THE STORY OF MUHAMMAD SAW
11:04 PMTHE STORY OF MUHAMMAD
“It is commonly believed by the followers of Sunnah that the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho alaihi wa Sallam) said that first of all Allah Created his ‘Light’ and illuminated everything from earth to sky with his Light.
Ka’ab Ahbar narrated that when Allah created Adam (alaihis salam) He put the Light of Muhammad (Sallallah- alaihi wa Sallam) into his forehead. When Hazrat Shees was born, the same Light shone at his forehead, and it descended generation after generation in his lineage, and the forefathers of our Holy Prophet were never stained with adultery and other vices.
The Same Light appeared in the forehead of Hazrat Ibrahim and then that of Hazrat Ismail and touched the forehead of Abd Munaf after passing through his decendents*.” [ ]
# Abd Munaf had four sons:
Abdus’ Shams
Hashim
Muttalib
Naufil
Hashim was the forefather of Muhammad. Hashim took the seat of his father (Abd Munaf) and took charge of giving water to the pilgrims of the Ka’aba of Zam’zam, and he kept the key of the Ka’aba with him. He was famous for his generosity and “bravity*”.
Abdul Muttalib, his successor, once dreamed that if a particular spot was dug out, a sacred well (Zam’zam) would be found there. Abdul Muttalib vowed that if his dream became real and he was given ten sons, he would sacrifice one of his ten sons. #[ ]
~(The Zamzam well came into existence for Ismail’s sake, when he and his mother Hajira (Hagar) were overcome by thirst. Allah caused a stream of water to flow in the desert. Hagar contained the water by building a mound around it and it became a well. The Jurhum tribe covered the well with dust and for a long time it could not be found.)~{ }
“One day Abdul – Muttalib saw in his dream the location of the well of Zamzam and started digging for it. In that spot two idols Isâf and Nâilah were being kept. The Quraish resented this disturbance and became hostile and ready to fight…Realizing his isolation Abdul- Muttalib invoked Allâh the Almighty that in case He gave him ten sons, he would sacrifice one of his sons in the name of God. After a short period the well appeared and he was also blessed with ten sons.” { }
~The well was found. This established the prestige of Abdul Muttalib. ~{ }
“When his sons had grown, he got ready to fulfil* his vow. He went to the Ka’bah along with all his sons and drew lots before Hubal. By chance the arrows of chance chose his youngest son, Abdullah who was very dear to Abdul-Muttalib” { }
#Abdullah was to be the future the father of Muhammad. Abdullah was well loved, and the thought of sacrificing Abdullah disturbed everyone. #{ }
~ He decided to consult Sâja, a noted soothsayer. ~[ ]
“She pointed out that blood money for their (Abdul- Muttalib’s) clan was ten camels.”{ }
#She advised them to put ten camels against Abdullah and draw lots again between the two. They should go on increasing the number of camels, unless the lot was drawn against the camels. When the amount of camels reached 100, the lot was finally drawn against the camels. The camels were offered in charity. #[ ]
“Hence 100 camels were slaughtered and Abdullah saved. Since that time, the blood money of one killed was fixed at one hundred camels” { }
When Abdullah reached the age of puberty, he married Amna the child of Wahab, the child of Abd Munaf. Abdullah died before the birth of Muhammad. # [ ]
